The Burj Khalifa is 828 metres tall, and visitors can go up to three levels. At the Top, on levels 124 and 125, is the main observation deck: a 360-degree view over Downtown, the Gulf and the desert, with an open-air terrace on level 124. At the Top SKY, on level 148, is higher and quieter, with a guest lounge and smaller groups; its ticket includes levels 124 and 125 as well.
The Lounge, on levels 152 to 154, is the highest of the three — a lounge with drinks and light food rather than a deck, and the most exclusive way up the tower.
Tickets are sold for a time slot. The slots around sunset are the most popular — the city turns gold, then lights up — and they sell out first, often days ahead. Daytime gives the widest view of the coast and the desert when the air is clear; after dark you see the lights of Sheikh Zayed Road and the Marina.
Plan about an hour to an hour and a half at the top, plus the security check and the queue for the lifts. Summer haze can soften the view; the clearest days are usually in winter.
The entrance to At the Top is on the lower ground floor of The Dubai Mall, which a covered walkway links to the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station. After your visit, the Dubai Fountain show plays on the lake below the tower in the evening.
Many tickets come as combos — with the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo in the same mall, the Dubai Frame, the Miracle Garden, or a half-day or full-day city tour with hotel pickup. Each listing says which levels and extras are included. The list is ranked by traveller reviews.
For most visitors, At the Top on levels 124 and 125 — the classic view, with the most time slots. At the Top SKY on level 148 is higher and less crowded; The Lounge on levels 152–154 adds drinks and the highest view open to visitors.
Just before sunset, if you can get a slot: you see the city by day, at sunset and lit up at night in one visit. Those slots sell out first, so book a few days ahead; the early morning is the quietest time.
About an hour to an hour and a half at the top, plus the security check and the lifts — allow two hours in all. A combo with a city tour takes half a day or a full day.
On the lower ground floor of The Dubai Mall, signposted At the Top. By metro, get off at Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall; tickets with hotel pickup take you to the entrance.
