Apurva in Emirates Theater

Apurva invites Dubai audiences to experience a rare musical encounter where two of India’s beloved classical traditions meet on one stage. Held at Emirates Theatre in Jumeirah, this special concert brings together the acclaimed vocal duo Ranjani and Gayatri, celebrated exponents of the Carnatic style, and sitar virtuoso Purbayan Chatterjee, a leading figure in the Hindustani tradition, for an inspiring jugalbandi performance.

The evening is set apart by its collaborative spirit: Carnatic and Hindustani forms intertwine, offering listeners the distinctive rhythms and melodic structures unique to each tradition. Ranjani and Gayatri are known for their expressive vocals and international acclaim, while Purbayan Chatterjee’s sitar artistry bridges tradition and innovation. Supporting them on stage is a distinguished ensemble—Vittal Rangan on violin, Sai Giridhar on mrudangam, Ojas Adhiya on tabla, and Hemant Gadkari on keyboard—each adding depth to the musical dialogue.

This is the first time Dubai hosts such a collaboration, making Apurva a landmark event for lovers of Indian classical music in the region. The Emirates Theatre provides an intimate setting, ideal for appreciating the intricate interplay of voice and instrument.

Apurva is perfect for anyone passionate about classical music, those curious about India’s diverse musical heritage, or anyone seeking a cultural evening in the heart of Jumeirah.
