Navam: The Nine within in Dubai

Navam: The Nine within is a unique theatrical experience in Dubai, inviting audiences into the world of the Navarasas—the nine emotions that form the heart of Indian aesthetic tradition. This performance, created by Katha Sutra, combines storytelling, original poetry, live music, and the expressive art of Kathak dance to explore how ancient concepts resonate with modern lives today.

Rather than simply explaining the nine rasas, the production encourages you to step into each one, experiencing their depth through a blend of classical and contemporary performance styles. The show weaves together narratives and movement, shifting from the profound to the playful, and from the familiar to the unexpected. Each element—music, verse, dance, and story—is carefully crafted to draw out the emotional richness of the rasas, offering a journey that is both introspective and dynamic.

Set at Live at Play, Warehouse B17 on ABA Avenue, the event provides a thoughtful exploration of identity and feeling, rooted in centuries-old tradition yet newly relevant today. Whether you are a fan of Indian performing arts or curious about the ways stories can reflect personal experience, Navam presents an opportunity to see yourself mirrored on stage. It’s a chance to reflect on which emotions shape your life most deeply, making this a performance that resonates well beyond the theatre.
