Planning an evening at Global Village
What Global Village is
Global Village is a large open-air festival park in Dubailand, on the edge of the city. Around thirty pavilions, each dressed in the architecture of a country or region, sell crafts, sweets, spices, textiles and souvenirs from some 90 cultures — from Turkey, India and Morocco to China, Africa and the Gulf.
Between the pavilions are hundreds of food stalls and restaurants, a main stage and smaller stages with music and dance shows, a lake with performances on the water, and Carnaval, a funfair whose rides are paid for separately from entry. On weekend nights there are fireworks.
When it is open
Global Village is a winter attraction: each season usually opens in October and runs until around early May, with exact dates announced every year. In summer the park is closed.
It opens in the late afternoon and stays open until around midnight, later at weekends. Most people arrive around sunset, when it is cooler and the pavilions light up; weekday evenings are noticeably less crowded than Friday and Saturday. Plan three to four hours — more if you want the rides and a sit-down dinner.
Getting there and tickets
The park is off Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, about 25–30 minutes by taxi from Downtown and a little more from Dubai Marina. There is no metro station nearby; public buses run from several metro stations, and there is a large car park. Many listings below include a hotel transfer, which saves arranging the evening's taxis.
Entry tickets come as cheaper weekday tickets and tickets valid any day; small children go in free. Rides, games and food are paid inside. The Miracle Garden, also in Dubailand and open in the same season, is a short drive away, so several listings combine the two in one afternoon and evening. Each listing says what is included; the list is ranked by traveller reviews.
