Dubai City Tours

Guided ways into Dubai, from the souks and wind towers of the old town to the skyline of Downtown and the Palm.

Seeing Dubai on a city tour

Old Dubai and Dubai Creek

Most city tours start where Dubai began: the Al Fahidi historical district with its wind towers, coral-stone houses and small museums, then an abra — a traditional wooden water taxi — across Dubai Creek to Deira's gold and spice souks.

This part of the city is best on foot with a guide who can explain the trading history, the pearl diving and how the town looked before oil.

Modern Dubai: Downtown, Jumeirah and the Palm

The modern half of a typical tour covers photo stops at Jumeirah Mosque, the Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumeirah and Atlantis, Dubai Frame and Downtown with Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall. Some tours include the Burj Khalifa observation deck or a ride on the Palm Monorail.

Half-day tours fit either the old or the new city; a full-day tour covers both, usually with lunch.

Group, private or by bus?

Small-group tours are the easiest way to see the highlights with a guide. A private tour lets you set the pace and the stops — useful with children or for photography. Hop-on hop-off buses, food tours and evening tours are good alternatives if you prefer to explore at your own rhythm.

Hotel pickup is included on most guided tours. The list is ranked by reviews, with free cancellation on most tours up to 24 hours before.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a Dubai city tour?

Half-day tours take about four to five hours and cover either old Dubai or the modern city. Full-day tours take seven to eight hours and combine both, often with a lunch stop.

Is there a dress code for visiting mosques in Dubai?

Yes: shoulders and knees covered for everyone, and women cover their hair at Jumeirah Mosque or the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. Tours visiting a mosque usually tell you in advance, and some mosques lend abayas at the entrance.

Can I combine a city tour with Burj Khalifa?

Yes. Some city tours include an At the Top ticket; otherwise book a timed Burj Khalifa ticket for the end of the tour — sunset slots are the most popular and sell out first.

Are city tours in Dubai suitable for summer?

Yes, as long as you choose a tour in an air-conditioned vehicle with short walks. From June to September, morning or evening tours are much more comfortable than the middle of the day.
